Clare College Garden.
Sited on an ancient fenland and bordered by three dykes and the River Cam, this is a fine example of a 20th century English garden. It was redesigned in 1947 by E.N. Wilmer after the devastation of the war years. The lawn leads up to the river between the bedding displays and after the spring and summer plants, the reds and golds of autumn are a fine close to the season.Clare college is in the background. This is a beautiful place to walk or relax. I was here today hoping to catch sight of the filming of the Stephen Hawking story, but I think the were doing indoor shots. I was told they should be at Clare tomorrow, but it will be cordoned off. Anyway I may go and have another look, as there are plenty of other lovely things to see along the 'Backs'.
