Winter Wood
Sent from my iPad
Age appears to be best in four things; old wood best to burn, old wine to drink, old friends to trust, and old authors to read.
Francis Bacon
This is the wood from trees cut down in the garden, stored in barbecue ready for burning in the winter. Though I must admit I'll light the fire with reluctance as it's usually me who cleans it out. Should really have had photo of Finn today as we've had him for two nights. He was good as gold and mum and dad collected him at lunch. They'd brought a Peppa Pig present from Catherine and Izzy, which Finn loved. After they'd gone I lay on the sofa with 'The Return of Captain John Emmett' our Book Club novel for Wednesday but fell sound asleep. Could have been:
a) the prosecco they'd bought by way of thanks. Rachel and Steve were married in Venice so this is kind of their signature drink. Luckily we we having Spaghetti Bolognese - who am I kidding? I'd have drunk it with curry!
b) getting up early two mornings in a row, bathing and running around after a toddler.
c) the book. No, certainly not as it looks great but I keep falling asleep. I'm now so used to reading on the ipad that I find it more difficult with the paper copy.
Musical link is a bit obscure but it reminds me of my cousin, Gordon, who used to have a wind-up-gramophone long before I knew anything about such things. This was not my favourite track, which has to be 'Are You Lonesome Tonight?' Do you see where this is going? Here:
