Career fair
And what a waste of time it was. 6 prospective employers 2.5 of which may have been relevant. About 200 people queuing to get their 5 min of fame. The most useful of which was aerotek a recruitment agency. Got a direct contact with an agent but he basically told me what I already know. Plenty of jobs for less or more experienced people, very few for Phd level. If I can give any advice it would be unless you want to travel the world a bit after your phd by doing postdoc - phd's are a waste of time.
Other notable calamities was telling a company I wanted a R&D position only for them to tell me they don't do R&D. Number 1 rule when looking for jobs - know what the company does.....everything else was either manufacturing or engineering based, teaching (def a no no) and chemistry. None of which I am skilled in. All in all pretty much an afternoon wasted. One girl I got talking to in the line had even flown in from Denver for it - wow what a waste of time/money.
Got the wife's car washed inside and out. Treated myself to a consolatory macdonalds and came home to crack on with my new project - GTA V
