Sugar loaf cabin, big bear, CA
Took the day off work. The wife had to work in the am so I spent the morning applying for more jobs and getting ready for our road trip to big bear east of LA in the San bernadino mountains.
We left a little later than planned. But the 150 mile trip was largely smooth and took us jus over 3 hrs. Mainly freeway with some traffic the further north we got and then onto the windy mountain roads over 7000ft of elevation.
Drove through big bear city alongside big bear lakes and into sugar loaf. A grid system of cabins. Ours is dog friendly so we have babe in tow (she was very good on the drive up - we put here bed in the back which she liked). Only $120 a night and it sleeps up to 8 in 2 bedrooms. Very nice place with wifi, cable tv and hundreds of DVDs. A nice fenced yard for babe too.
On the drive through big bear we noticed a place called the Nottingham inn, part of the Robin Hood resort. As mum was born and bred there, we had to call in for dinner (after checking reviews on yelp). Kinda like a weather spoons feel - I had very nice prime rib.
Retired back to the cabin for a beer and a DVD. Ready to explore the surrounding mountains with babe tomorrow. We are here until Sunday.
