Gotcha!
In large, you can see his one ruby feather... I'll bet he'll be a looker next season!
This young male hummingbird was at the feeder this afternoon as I tried to get a few macro shots in the garden. Over and over again he buzzed on in and had a drink... of course he did... I had the MACRO lens on! At some point I gave in and snapped a few of him with that lens anyway, and even though he was too far away, I was surprised by the clarity. So I took a minute away from the garden to outsmart the 2.5 inch male bird and scrunched down next to the car, out of sight. In this spot I was closer and when he came back I got this! Not bad for a macro lens I must say. :)
To summarize: 1) Yes, I was too lazy to go back in and change the appropriate lens. And 2) I am somewhat smarter than a young hummingbird. ;)
