Something Lunar
My room has a lot going on.
Left of my bed is a wall of posters--many of them being movies I fancy or things that I like. Then the wall with my headboard pressed against is adorned with pictures of my photography, where the joining wall to the right of it also has my photo life upon it. Then opposite of my bed is a wall of random decor. Most of it is covered with things my friends have made for me: paintings, drawings, misc. art, and of course, more photography. Thanks to some sturdy tacks I found awhile back, I was able to hang up a nifty full length mirror by my closet, and other side of it, a little ukelele I bought just last summer. It's a luna uke and I find it quite beautiful. Never got around to learning how to play it but occasionally a sibling of mine will come across it and tweak with it for a bit.
Today went great! Got my first official Nanny paycheck and also managed to do a few favors for my sister who is out of the country. The last of my college books finally got to my doorstep, and emails between my professors are going over smoothingly. Nothing is getting too exciting and yet I keep finding myself rather exhausted at the end of each day. Guess it's a good thing but at the same time--I think of it rather sad. I'm gonna miss the summer nights where I stayed up all hours either composing music or writing away another chapter of my seemingly endless book. There were also times where I would talk to my closest friends on the phone till the stars were their brightest, or would read till my eyes could take no more. I always call this period of my life "seasonal insomnia".
I get zero sleep in the summertime and it's quite okay with me. Sure, I might have lost my good looks and developed viscous eye bags for a time being--but at least a lot of my emotions were conveyed through copious amounts of music and art. So here's to the outcome of an artist's sleepless nights! Here's to the beauty of sleep-deprived eyes! You all are beautiful inside and out.
