LATE BLOOMER
This beautiful little rose was just about the only fresh blossom left in the rose garden at Francis Park here in Lansing. It was heavily overcast today after an early morning thunderstorm – the kind of day where the lighting isn’t good and nothing is out and about. My favorite blip assistant suggested that we scout out a blip at the park, but I wasn’t sure it would be worth the time because it’s late in the season for roses. Of course there were other possibilities like the landscape and the river view (neither turned out), so off we went. I’m so glad we did because, even though the roses were well past their prime, we found this pale pink gem. (Even prettier 'large'.) This is my favorite stage for a rose – just newly opening from a bud, but not yet in full bloom. It was so hot and humid today that my lens fogged up when the cap was first removed, and the earliest pictures looked like they were taken in a cloud.
