Primeval Trait

Sudden movement in the grass in front of me caught my eye. One of our primeval traits to aid preservation, I suppose. On investigation, I discovered this little American bullfrog, quite small, possible 2" in length. I expect all the flooding before we went away, dislocated wildlife normally resident in the lake. The  water has receded now, but the grass may take time to recover.

I decided the eye was most important and kept that in focus, allowing the body to fade. Using a telephoto means there's not much depth of field, but I wouldn't want to move closer.
