Rude awakening
Woken slightly earlier than we would have liked this morning by this noisy beast - a shredder - in the garden opposite. Maybe not a bad thing as we needed to be out in good time to go into Holmfirth for breakfast with John and Marina. After a sociable meal we walked back to the van to fetch two large bags of clothing, which we took to the children's hospice shop. (Some weeks ago I sorted out clothing that no longer fits, put it into bags which I took into the spare room, and promptly forgot about them!) Also walked to Fair Trader for a leaving card.
Home for a short while, and I found the receipt for our broken kettle to check that it was definitely out of guarantee. It was, but it seems that when we bought it we paid for an extra year's guarantee on a like for like basis. Hooray! So we drove to Curry's in the hope of a replacement kettle. They didn't have the same model in stock, which was fortunate in a way. The last two kettles we've owned have broken just outside their guarantee period, and both times it was a fault with the on/off switch. So we opted to pay a bit extra for the only kettle in the shop without that switch. Third time lucky - fingers crossed that this lasts a bit longer.
