Welsh Not

The weather forecast for today was for some very heavy rain at times, just about everywhere, with some brighter spots in between.

So, it was time for a day of museums and historic buildings. I started at Harlech Castle for a lesson on the number of rebellions against English rule over Wales.

Then I headed to the Lloyd George Museum. My knowledge (before today) of Lloyd George was that he seemed to know every Welshman's father. My knowledge has increased somewhat. A fascinating museum and history lesson of the first half of the 20th Century. Some I did already know, but I still learned a huge amount.

I spent so long there that I didn't have time to get to either of my other options for today, Sygun Gold Mine or the Caernarvon Aircraft Museum. I did manage to stop (between downpours) on the Aber Glaslyn which was in full flow following recent rains. While there a steam train did pass by, I was unable to get downstream to where there was a gap in the trees on the far side so that you could see the train pass, as the river was so high that the path was covered and I didn't have the time to get back to the road and along to a better viewing point. (see extra)

Today's image - a Welsh Not, which was hung around the neck of any child who had the audacity to speak Welsh in school to remind them that only English was permitted.
