USAPC Stage 3 - Breckenridge to Steamboat Springs

We biked from our hotel to the top of Rabbit Ears Pass. That is a serious ride (and seriously HOT today) 40 miles and 4600 vertical feet. We stopped off at the western summit for a beer and cookie from a guy who's company organizes bike tours all over the world designed to hop from brewery to brewery. Chatted with some interesting people, then off to the KOM on the eastern summit to watch the race.

We heard initially that a break of 5 riders had gone clear, including none other than JENS! When the loud-speaker car came by ahead of the race with an update, he announced that the break of 4 was splitting up and going backwards. There was a huge groan of disappointment from the crown. Then he 'clarified' that that was because Jens had attached and was flying up solo!! Everyone went wild! Not as crazy as they went when he rode by!

The wind picked up shortly after we rode into the KOM, so unfortunately Jens got a nasty headwind for the entire rest of the ride and came 3km short of the win.
