USAPC Stage 2 - Aspen to Breckenridge

Camped at the base of Independence Pass last night. Road closed by 9am so we (and a thousand of our closest friends) got to ride up to the top without worrying about cars. It is a beautiful climb - 30 miles and 3000 vertical feet on the day.

The top was insane. Red bull had a truck that unfolded into a DJ booth to provide tunes. Right next door some enterprising souls had set up a full hard alcohol bar and two story beer bong. There was twister...in the middle of the road. A cop was hula-hooping with two girls. I'm pretty sure, however, that it is cheating for him to hook the hula hoop over his combat belt. A guy rode by on a 12 foot tall bike. New Belgium Brewery was kindly passing out free beers.

Oh yeah, and then there was the bike race! Similar to yesterday JENS is sitting in the middle of the road. Relaxing in the second row today. I also caught Christian VandeVelde and Ted King as they rode by.
