Whitby sunset
To Whitby for the the last two days of Folk Week. MrM had arranged for someone to pick up a guitar fairly early in the morning, and as soon as he'd gone we set off, stopping in Pickering on the way to stretch our legs and pick up some provisions for a late lunch. We also popped into the station where 'Tornado', a steam train, was in action.
Once in Whitby we left our bags at our accommodation, and walked across to the Folk Week Craft Fair in the leisure centre, to say hello to friends Denny and Hugh and a couple of other people.
Next a walk down into the town, and after a fish & chip tea at Hadley's we walked up the 199 steps and through St Mary's churchyard. It was a lovely evening, and the sun lit up the Abbey (extra). We stayed for a while before heading back down the steps and into town. There were music sessions in several pubs, some of which were full to the gunnels, but we squeezed into the Ship. Eventually MrM managed to get a seat with the musicians and joined the session. I stayed for a while longer and listened before walking out to the end of the pier for some after-dark shots of Whitby (extra) and to look out over the sea. Met up with MrM before walking back to the guest house.
