Dawnswyr Talog

An early start to the day! We checked out of our accommodation, and by 8.00am were in Java for breakfast with John and Marina. Very nice it was too.

After we'd parted company, I went back to the Craft Fair to pick up a jacket and waistcoat from Denny's stall, and to say goodbye until next time. Though Denny and I have made a tentative arrangement to meet again before the start of the next festival season. After that MrM and I went on quite a long walk on the footpaths around Whitby and ended up near the Abbey again. Back to West Cliff for coffee in the Spa, where we bumped into Pat, a friend from times in Northumberland, then to the van for a bite to eat - some naughty and utterly delicious croissants that we'd bought earlier!

MrM disappeared to the Golden Lion to play at an  Irish music session and I wandered around Whitby in search of Morris dancing. Eventually I spotted some  Seven Champs dancers and followed them to the Bandstand, where I watched them and several other dance sides, including Dawnswyr Talog, a traditional dance group from Talog in South Wales. Then up to the Whale Bones to watch more dancing. I would like to have gone down to watch the final festival procession on the pier, but as our parking ticket was about to run out I watched from above, by the Whale Bones.

We left Whitby late afternoon, and stopped off in Ripon on the way home for a meal, and to stretch our legs. It's been a busy couple of days - may need a lie in tomorrow!
