Absorbed
A showery morning, so we stayed in, played games, read books and generally relaxed. Luca's in the early stages of learning to read, and the house has a vast stock of books to browse through.
I learned to play the board game Carcassonne, and Eben beat me at cards quite a few times (he is much better at remembering who's played what than I am, these days...)
Later Ruth, Josh and Luca went with Eben into Amlwch to try out the fishing rod that they bought for him the other day. The tiny, pretty harbour there was the chosen spot. Then they met up with Jack, Marianna, Frieda and Simone for a walk around Parys Mountain, with its spectacularly vivid remains of copper-mining.
I knew I had one batch of mural photos still to edit, in time to upload them all to ArtUK over the weekend (the final deadline for uploads being 31 August). So I stayed in and got it done.
Our days here start early - Simone is usually up and about between 5 and 6 a.m., and we've settled into a routine where I get up around 6 and give Jack and/or Marianna a chance to get back to sleep for a bit. I wake early anyway, so this works out fine. But it did mean that I was happy enough to have a quiet afternoon in the house.
Tomorrow will be busy, as friends are coming over for a little pre-birthday party for Luca (1 Sept is the day itself).
