Red Warning!

A red warning was issue last night for extremely heavy rain and thunderstorms. I wasn't fussed because wet weather gear exists. :-P 

I didn't anticipate the rain being quite as heavy and unrelenting as it was on my ride, but it felt great to be out. The dark clouds rolling about really did make for atmospheric views, which would then be totally swallowed up moments later. 

I enjoyed a posh café stop in Tirano...no it is just McDonald's! I was amazed at the offering of a pistachio croissant and the use of proper glass cups. Who knew?

On my way back I was thwarted by a road closure due to a weather related landslide which I have since seen photographs of. Unbelievable! I managed to navigate round with the help of my garmin. I also noted signs alerting people to the Stelvio Pass being closed due to the weather. 

A great ride and back in a bubbly bath by 3pm, early out wins every time. :-)
