Beached in Bude
Attending a Jazz festival like this one can be a bit hit and miss. There are no big names but there are several names that we know well from the Jazz circuit. However, there are a lot of names we don't know, and the programme simply lists the people playing in each band and the instruments they play. The names of the bands can sometimes help; if they have words like 'stompers', 'trad' or 'New Orleans' in the name you can pretty much guess what type of music they play and whether you'll like them.
You can, of course, be wrong. Last night we went to an excellent concert so stayed for the whole thing rather than moving on at the interval. We thought the trumpeter was a bit suspect but other than that they were good. This morning we went to one concert that we really fancied but it turned out not to be our style so we left and went over to another venue. We didn't expect to like it as they had 'Trad' in their band name but they were superb and definitely the best thing we've seen so far. I've added a photo of them in the extras.
This afternoon we went to see the band that we missed last night because we didn't move on. We stayed about five minutes and moved on to another venue where I enjoyed the band; W not so much. Hopefully tonights offerings will be good but we know there are people playing tomorrow who we know and like.
In between shows we had a walk down to the beach where I took this shot. I've also added a view I took this morning as an extra just because I liked it.
