I blame kids' books !

Squirrels have always fascinated me - and I know it's the many picture books I read or were read to me when I was a kid, that are responsible ! 

New Zealand has no squirrels so I was left to imagine for myself all the tales of winter hibernation and huge stores of acorns and similarly romantic squirrel based tales !
