View from the Hill
Friends last full day with us. Suggested we went to St Catherine's Hill (inland, close to Christchurch). Good place for me, as the trees give good shelter from the sun.
Easy to get a little lost. Took the main trail on the way out – approximately 2 km to the other end, and plan to come down the other side to return to the car park. The same as the last time we were there, we couldn't find the main trail and ended up going up and down some tricky routes.
The Hill is quite an adventure, mainly used by nearby locals and their doggies. But it really is delighted and you can easily spend a good couple of hours walking around it, and admiring some lovely far reaching views over to Christchurch, the Isle of Wight and the Needles, the river Avon and Sopley.
Feet ache. Need and early night. The two of us have an organised walk/talk tomorrow, but the forecast is strong wind and heavy rain. So who knows.
