Baked artichokes

The heat dome over the northwest USA continues. I made this photo early in the morning on the way to buy a few groceries. These thistles artichokes had grown higher than my head before the heat killed them. The heat makes going out later in the day impossible for me. Now there is also smoke from forest fires, so breathing is difficult.

I am grateful that Cheeryoscuro is holding space for the murder of photographers in Gaza. Here is the full post, with photos and bios of each of the five murdered journalists. I stand in silence, grateful for their witness, horrified by their deaths.
