Resist! Poster

Backblip.

A few weeks ago, Sue created a stunning poster. She made color photocopies of it to hang on telephone poles, but every time she hangs one, it disappears. Is it MAGA people tearing it down because they like ICE? Is it like-minded people taking it down to take home? We will never know.

Our friend Au alerted us to the opportunity to donate the poster to an art auction to benefit Jobs with Justice, an organization that gave an award to Portland Buddhist Peace Fellowship in 2020 "For putting belief into action in our community for social, immigrant and ecological justice.” Sue donated the poster, and it will be auctioned off with other art works on September 6.

Meanwhile she continues posting copies of it on utility poles. I made this photo through the window of her house as she posted it right outside. I’m writing this on Monday morning, and so far, the poster is still there.

“In the cause of silence, each of us draws the face of her own fear — fear of contempt, of censure, of some judgment, of recognition, of challenge, of annihilation. But most of all, I think, we fear the visibility without which we cannot truly live…. And that visibility which makes us most vulnerable is that which also is the source of our greatest strength.
