Someone's birthday in the house (not mine I should add) and a full day did ensue.
Kicking off with a lovely brunch at Margot up towards Bruntsfield and then a walk across The Meadows where she went to see Ian McEwan at the book festival with some book club buddies and I carried on to Monkey Barrel at Cabaret Voltaire to catch Ayo Adenekan.
A quick pop into Fruitmarket for me - the Mike Nelson show looked terrific, I'll be back another time to do it justice - on the way to meet up at the RSA for Andy Goldsworthy -wow! Again, another visit to do it justice is essential I feel, some absolute stunning work.
Up to The Cameo for a teatime film - Sorry, Baby (liked it a lot) - and then onto Bennett's pub and Matto in Morningside to meet up with our girls who were over from Glasgow, for birthday food and drink, complete with cards, flowers and presents.
To round off the evening, the final trip of the festival to the Trav for a last night's final hurrah with She's Behind You, a fine show to end things with. A slight caveat, there is one more show tomorrow, but it's an extra, a bonus if you like. Not saying it doesn't count but, you know...
