Playtime on the Meadows

The Meadows is always a hive of activity. The variety of sports being practiced and played has grown over the years. It used to be just football but now rugby, crickets, pitch and putt and other sports go alongside the sunbathing, relaxation, BBQs, cyclying etc. there is also an excellent play park for children at one end.

All of this is currently taking place with the backdrop of the circus tent which will no doubt disappear as the Festival ends.

Kirsty Wark was suggesting that to ease the accommodation crisis/ costs in Edinburgh during festival time, a tented village could be set up on the Meadows. I’m not sure what the current users of the space would say about that!
