Sweet and Spicy

It felt good to lie in bed this morning and know we didn’t have to get up until we wished to do so. As it turned out I got up early and fed Merlin, then had a short rest before walking into the village to the bakery via the allotment. That done my main task was to make plum chutney. It took some time to chop up all the ingredients, cook them down and bottle them up but by lunchtime the task was complete and the kitchen smelled sweet and spicy.

Otherwise I continued washing and cleaning (after a couple of weeks of visitors), and plum picking. All the plums are now off the tree so now I need to finish preserving and using them. Another allotmenteer told me today she’d made a plum and honey marmalade - the honey being used instead of sugar. I may try it.
