Hosted Out

Andy’s uncle left us this morning to drive home to Nottingham. Fortunately the roads were not too busy with bank holiday weekend traffic and he got home by early afternoon. It was great fun having him to stay but I think it’s fair to say we are both looking forward to a break from hosting visitors.

After Bill left we had a long walk in the field with Merlin and caught up with various dog walking acquaintances. Then it was down to cleaning and washing, then a trip to the allotment to harvest produce and water the plants which are desperate for some rain - the soil is like dust. I returned laden with fruit and vegetables. Andy’s made another raspberry crumble and I’ve got plums for chutney making tomorrow.

These tomatoes are in the garden. Ironically I didn’t grow many this year fearing I’d lose them to blight which thrives in damp, mild conditions.
