A drive over Rose
Hill Road on a Saturday
is the perfect jaunt

~carliewired

The sun got a head start on me this morning. I left the house at 7:30 to take the Yellowhead Highway over to the south shore, then up on Rose Hill Road.

Starting from the north side my first stop was a field where I've encountered this lonely horse before. Today, he looked very sad and would only peek at me between the fence rails. He really needs a companion.

Near the top of the road I stopped for panoramas of the downtown and my mountains. It always seems odd to see my mountains in profile. The view from my deck is preferable.

At the summit I spotted a doe feeding in the dappled light of the woods. She looked up long enough for me to get a shot.

I passed a very energetic cyclist who was plodding along the gravel road uphill.  I would meet him on the downhill back to the city. He waved at me as he passed me and he zoomed off to the highway.

Many birds of prey were hunting over the fields. I found a hawk perched on top of a power pole surveying the grasslands.

Cattle were on open range. They look clean and shiny after their summer in the grasses.

My last shot was a doe feeding in a field near the highway. I had to look through barbed wire. My camera seems to like the wire rather than the doe.

I'm home. As it heats up I will be hiding inside with my feet up and the A/C at the ready.
