Down the Pit

We were on a day out with the Gilchimps today. Our destination was the Museum of Lead Mining in Wanlockhead. A fascinating place with a really grim social history. Once we’d enjoyed our tasty home baking and tea from the cafe, our excellent guide (Elliot) really brought it all to life on our damp and dank (and rather scary) underground tour. Back to daylight and a drive to Biggar for lunch (the excellent Aroma Cafe) and then the Gilchimps popped back to ours for a look around our new garden room and to have more tea. Great day and one we won’t forget in a hurry!
