The Eagle and Child
Back from a day of meetings, MrP dragged me off to a field on Staveley alongside the River Kent to help remove many hundreds of balsam plants. Exhausted and hot by 7.30 the Eagle and Child provided a welcome dinner. Another fine balsam plant in extras with all its seed pods just waiting to pop at the slightest movement. I cut the flower head off very carefully with secateurs and put it on a carrier bag. Then pull up the plant, scrunch it up and leave in a pile to rot. We took 3 carrier bags full of seed heads back home for the dustbin
