Music and bells

Reading and writing until mid morning pilates. Our favorite instructor is back; lots of shoulder work. From there went to St Marys. Wandered round the exhibit in the Charter House and got another view on the banners from underneath the bell tower.

Philomusica of Edinburgh played a short session
Horn concerto in Eb - Mozart 1781 (one of the reconstructions)
Simple Symphony - Benjamin Britten 1934

There was a good introduction explaining how Mozart's son had given away manuscript pages of the unfinished horn concertos, and that they occasionally turn up: most recently 90 bars were found in Paris, enabling more reconstruction.

Back to our flat; the carpenter arrived early, to take away two doors for glazing.

Out again in the early evening, back to St Marys, to sit outside at the corner of Melville Street and listen to the peal of Stedman Doubles which is what the banners represent. Bell ringing language has its own special jargon ..

Just as warm as its been for the past few days but with a stronger West wind. We watched a big pile of cloud to the NorthEast; we didn't get any of the thunder and hail reported from elsewhere.
