Sunshine and construction
Morning walk round for coffee; afternoon errand to the framers with the last pair of the old maps. Walked back by Eyre Place; the big red arm is for concrete being pumped into footings for a new building tucked into a very awkward corner next to the Canon Mill building (which has had its roof removed). Behind the pump there's a huge circulation of gulls; hundreds of them, playing in the wind and sunshine in a great gyratory.
Later in the afternoon, at @Ridgeback13 's suggestion, I went along to the open day for the Royal High School Preservation Trust on Regents Road. The trust just received planning permission to turn the building into "new premises for the National Centre for Music, including music rehearsal and performance spaces, licensed café/restaurant and bar facilities" .. it will have a big cafe open to the public, great views towards Arthur's Seat and the south of the city, and a sizeable garden.
Extras of the interior as it is now, and one of the exterior .. It's a Grade A listed building, so modifying it is complex. The structure appears to be in much better condition than we expected, given the ownership history. It showed itself off in the sunshine. There were some interesting people circulating (2nd extra) to the sound of a string trio.
