St Sunday Crag, Birks & Arnison Crag
The mountain Forecast for St Sunday Crag was a maximum of 20 degrees with a decent wind. Despite the forecast of a hot day, we thought it would be a possible (had already shelved ideas of Scafell - too high - and the Langdales - too busy).
How wrong that forecast was! The day was insanely hot - for the Lakes, at about 28 degrees, with not a breath of wind and high humidity that left us with sweat running over more sweat. I don't think either of us have ever felt so knackered at the end of a walk before. Only 9 miles, but nearly 3000 feet, and we both ran out of our sizeable water reservoirs about 7 miles in.
The large ice creams at the end were well earned!
The photo is taken from Arnison Crag looking back towards Birks (mid-distance, right of centre) and St. Sunday Crag (pointed summit just below the central white cloud)
