What I've Done

By JohnGravett

Late night Aurora

We'd been tracking the Aurora forecasts all day, and the likelihood of shooting stars. Spent the evening at Bassenthwaite Lake until gone 11 and (thought) we saw nothing - though if you look at the extra you'll see some purple banding on the right of the picture - a start of the Aurora. Headed home having seen some great reflections and a few shooting stars, to find my neighbour emerging from his front door to look at the Aurora over Skiddaw.

Neither photo has had any increase to vibrancy or saturation - these are the actual colours that were present, our eyes simply aren't sensitive enough to see the colours in such low light levels.

Set up the tripod, and got the result here - literally from my front door.
