Heather season

We met up early with some friends and their two sons for a walk over Knott Rigg and Ard Crags along Newlands Valley. The two lads are 5 and 9, and have already done 60 and 90 Wainwrights respectively!

The heather is pretty good this year, but amongst the heather, the black flies are horrendous - as soon as you stop walking, they land on any part of bare skin they can find.
