Micropanther
I went out this morning to meet up with a group of friends, deciding to take the rental 28-400 lens since it was very sunny and bright. It was also very hot and humid and I decided to call it quits after an hour when I realized that even my shins were sweating. Honestly.
So back to the lens and today's subject. I am not even sure how I spotted this tiny creature at the end of a tiny branch. To give you some idea of the size, they max out at 7-8 mm. Not an ideal sized subject for anything other than a macro lens which I didn't have. So, I dialed it up to 400 and cropped the hell out of this. Truthfully, it's a subpar image and one I would normally delete but ... the name! Micropanther - how cute is that? And how apropos since this is a robber fly. If you look closely, you can see the remains of his meal in his tiny little panther-like jaws. His full name is White-faced Micropanther (Cerotainia albipilosa). Sometimes you go with the most fun shot, not the best one.
I finished the edits to the dog photos and posted the galleries and now awaiting feedback. I always feel just a little nervous at this stage.
Hubs is meeting up with one of his karate-mates at the park tonight to practice so I may head over for a little bit to watch.
Busy day tomorrow. And my besties arrive Friday afternoon so I have to find time to give the house a good cleaning!
xoxo
