I was on my way to McArthur Island Park at 6. We have a beautiful, but hot day coming on.

I drove over to the south side of the park to check out the marmots right away.  In the first few minutes, I couldn't find even one. I began to worry that they'd all gone into hibernation already. Several scampered up from the river bank suddenly as if they'd all woken up at the same time.

Canada geese seem to be camping out all over the park. They are strangely quiet in their little flocks. It's interesting to watch their interactions with the marmots. They will put the run on the little rodents scaring them off.

I got a shot of my mountains across the playing fields, then had a look at the gazebo in the Xeriscape Garden. There are lots of blooms in that area. I had a quick look into the slough to note the water level is dropping dramatically as the river lowers, too.

I'm home with my feet up. I can tell it's going to be a hot day when it's already 24 C before 8 AM.
