Quod oculus meus videt

Waiting

My appointment at hospital was late morning and I had a suspicion that it was unlikely I would be seen straight away. Listening in the reception to other patients asking when they would be seen, only confirmed that thought. After an hour I was called through to a pre assessment room. I answered a few questions had my blood pressure and heart rate measured and then changed into a very fetching pair of disposable pants.

The nurse left me, but with the door ajar, for another 30 minutes, waiting for so long that I took this photo. Then I was led through to the door across the corridor. It was the same senior nurse doing the examination, as last time and we had a good chat as she probed away. No issues this time, the two suspensions I’d drunk over the last 24 hours had certainly done the trick.

I knew the result would be given straight away and I was pleased to know that nothing sinister had been found. I do have some damage caused by the radiotherapy I received for my prostate from 4 years ago, which has probably been the cause of my symptoms, bot no evidence of any cancer. That was the main concern. That you can watch the screen as the probe with its camera travel up my body is quite fascinating and worth the small amount of discomfort it causes.

The procedure lasted about 20 minutes then into recovery and change. Finally I could drink again (I hadn’t been allowed to drink for 4 hours), and as soon as they provided the results I was away.

I rewarded myself for 24 hours of fasting by heading to the local Greggs, before heading home.
