Perseid Meteor
Firstly, thank you for all of the kind comments on yesterday's blip. I admit I always thought the symptoms I get from time to time were as a result of the radiotherapy I had in 2021, but it was gratifying to have it confirmed by the hospital.
I read that the Perseid meteors were reaching their most active tonight. I hadn't done any astrophotography for a while so took the opportunity to reacquaint myself with my star tracker, which allows me to get long exposures without the stars becoming trails. It took a fair amount of reading to remind myself how to do all of the alignment stages and get the camera mounted.
I should have gone somewhere with a better view, but didn't feel particularly brave to be out alone in a remote location so set up in the garden this time. I took over 80 images, each 20 seconds exposure, but in only three did I capture a meteor. This was the best attempt. I had to take the photos in the late evening, after sunset and before the moon rose. It never got truly dark.
