Zabulon Skipper
If I had not been standing right by the rudbeckia patch when it landed, I would never have seen it - conveniently, I had a camera in hand and got some pics while it perched and coiled its proboscis in and out. I love the over-the-head lasso effect here. These dainty little butterflies are common here this time of year, flitting around the flower patches and fields.
Hubs and I were concerned that Jax's mouth might not be healing as quickly as expected so I called our vet this morning. They asked if it would be possible to send a couple of photos of the area where the growth and tooth were removed so the vet could have a look without having to bring the boy in. Fortunately, I was able to get some very clear close up shots and sent them right over. The vet emailed me back a few hours later saying that it looked like the suture material was holding onto some of the drainage so she ordered a week of twice-daily antibiotics just to be on the safe side. He is eating well and acting normal, but I didn't want to take any chances. Fortunately, he is easy to pill so this should be a breeze.
Spent some time pottering around outside and then sat myself down and got through all of the images from Friday, whittling that day down to under 400 pics which I'm happy with. Tomorrow I will do the final cuts on Day 2 and then hopefully load both the images into galleries. I am hoping that I get a break and get an overcast day for the Trials next month, although not counting on it! But it sure would be nice to shoot all those black dogs with more forgiving lighting.
I wore my scleral lens for 4 hours today - it felt so good to be able to see clearly out of that eye. However, when I took the lens out, my eye was a little irritated so I will maybe just do 3 hours tomorrow.
