A day in the life

Cape hyacinth

My Gantonia candicans, Summer hyacinth, or Cape hyacinth, are finally flowering. The bulbs are native to South Africa but can handle the climate on Öland very well, as long as the bulbs gets taken out of the soil in the late autumn to rest in a frost free place over winter.

The flowering is very late due to a cold spring  but manly, I believe, due to too little water during the season. The blame falls on me, there is no defence.

Slow, uneventful day, very warm during the day but the nights are chilly.
