Dancing to a different drumbeat
I asked Steve to take a photo of me in my new dress but then I started dancing because he had a podcast on…. he can’t bend down all the way to take all the shots he’d like. I have put a close up in extras .
Waited in today for a parcel. It contained a tent and some trousers that I’d ordered on Tuesday. The little tent I’ve got is a single-skin, and I gave away another larger one earlier this year. I borrowed a big one for the Green Gathering last weekend, as it was going to be wet part of the time, and it was a godsend! (We used my smaller one for stores and stuff). The new one has two skins, a porch with no groundsheet (grrrr) and apparently sleeps two. Is not very heavy, so it will do for most occasions.. I may make a local trip next weekend to try it out.
While I was waiting, a friend WhatsAppedto ask me where I was. She’d turned up at a cafe 24 hours early for a meeting with me! I couldn’t rush out to meet her. I wasn’t even dressed. Sadly she can’t meet me tomorrow, but we had a message exchange, and have arranged to meet again. She said my choice of new cafe was good, so….
Later in the day, I went down to that cafe to meet a friend K and her daughter. Weather was very hot, but we sat in the street with our cold drinks, and that’s when I started trying on clothes from the boutique across the street, and ended up buying this dress. The daughter bought a top too, which she said she would wear climbing. I haven’t been climbing for about six years, but I’m going to go with her. My kit keeps looking at me reproachfully….
Indie , the killer cat, woke us early by attacking a bird in the corridor outside our bedroom. Apparently she had brought it in yesterday, alive, and Steve had thought that it had flown out of the windows. Apparently not. Poor bird was cheeping loudly, I yelled at Indie to go away, then picked up the bird in a cloth (it was still moving faintly), and took it to the bottom of garden, getting my feet stung by nettles as I went. I laid the bird on the ground and it jerked away from me. Put up some leaves as camouflage, but when I returned later it had gone. We’d kept Indie inside for a while to give it a chance. It was a young great tit, I think. We will try to get the vet to put a bell collar on Indie when she next goes. Our own attempts have not been successful.
