DIY stuff

Mme MB is still on holiday, so we went out this afternoon to start buying things needed for the other house. We plan on working mornings over there, as the temperatures are set to ramp up again. 33C predicted tomorrow. 37C down in south west France where our son is at the moment.
First shop was our nearest Castorama near the A6 Paris to Lyon autoroute. We could get a few bits there, but as we needed 16 rolls of textured wallpaper, they'd have to order those with a 2 week delay. No good to us, as Mme MB would be back at work by then.
Managed to get a new flexible mains gas pipe. Some circle cutters, as a panel at the back of the kitchen units is covering the access to the mains gas tap. So I need to create a hand-sized hole to give access. Otherwise the only way to shut the gas off would be to take out the electric oven from the unit. Not ideal.
We also got a few tools and some products to deal with the slight mould staining on some of the walls. From a leak that happened years ago. Don't want it showing through the wallpaper or paint.
Then we decided to go to a different shop called 4 Murs, which specialises in wallpaper. There, with some good advice from the sales girl, we were able to get the right sort of paper and the required 16 rolls. Plus 3 tubs of ready mixed wallpaper paste (again the right paste for the paper we had bought as they have more than one type).

Meanwhile Rémy seems to be managing OK down in Brantôme with his 3 friends. They went shopping on foot to the local Carrefour this morning. Not exactly near as it is on the by pass. It used to be more near the centre of town, where it was convenient. Now you really need to drive there. Which is silly.
There is an Aldi not far from the house, but that is closed for refitting and enlarging of the main building.
It is very much a car owning area of France, so getting about on public transport isn't very easy, even if there is now a flat fare of 2.50 euros no matter what length of journey you take. Routes are not very frequent. The flat fare is the same for the route from Angoulême to Brantôme. This route then heads south to Périgueux. Which they'll probably visit too. Just hope they don't miss the bus back!
