Reminds Me of Gath
Still windy, less windy tonight. Some sunny spells, then the odd light shower. Lovely warm and sunny afternoon.
A day working with Cliffy on the mini essykert. We headed to Bressay for plastic recycling waste in the morning, then general waste from communal bins in Scalloway and Lerwick. Popped by Madeline's after work. Walkies this evening with Sammy, mostly feet up.
Traditional Scottish croft houses look much the same across all of the Highlands and Islands, very much standard architecture (my favourite). While granny and granddad owerby (Cunningsburgh) had a croft house on the one level, granny and granddad nort (Sullom) had a two up, two down style croft house, similar to this. While there are hundreds still lived in today, there's not many left with the old tarry roof, which G&G nort had. I often pass this old house when in Bressay, it's peaked windows and tarry roof remind me of happy days at Gath. Sadly their old croft house was ripped down years ago by the new owners, probably happen to this one at some point too. An old croft house at Beosetter, Bressay.
