Big Oaks...
It's a week of appointments so once again I was up and out early, walking up to the next village for my hygienist appointment. You will be pleased to read that I was very brave, but I didn't get a sticker.
Back home it was cuppa time then I fed all the potted plants, put the towels in to wash and filled the bird feeders. I decided on an early lunch so that I could put in a couple of hours' digging at the Drying Ground. The bulbs will be arriving next month and the ground needs preparing for them to go in.
It's not very rewarding work digging the briar patch as progress is slow and there is not much to show for a couple of hours other than two log bags full of brambles and grasses, the kinds which have long root systems and stick determinedly in the ground. Still, there are always folks passing who generally comment on how it is looking. The wildflower beds were planted at different times so some are going over now, but others have just come into flower and are looking really stunning. Sophie has been working on Bracken Alley and I hope it's not too early to say that we seem to be winning the war against the bracken.
When I'd had enough of yanking bramble roots, I took a walk up through the nature trail and blipped these acorns and the blackberries ripening in the wild patch which is the middle section of the ground. I will have to take the wildlife camera up to the top and see if the deer are still in residence.
Pilates in an hour or so, so maybe time for some peanut butter toast.
