Going through the cemetery
A long day, but enjoyable. The morning at Fareshare. All went well but there wasn’t much food to send out. I remember a couple of years ago there was a huge effort to get meals out during school holidays to children on free school meals. Footballer Marcus Rashford helped to publicise the campaign, as someone who knew what child poverty was. No signs of anything like that this year…. I’m sure it’s not because those families living in poverty are now comfortably off:-( Maybe there are some regional initiatives.
Oxfam in the afternoon- lovely to see the people there, but the fiction donations were disappointing - no books I would actually want to read. Will so-and- so find true love? will whoever meet a handsome stranger on her holiday? But I put them out, as I didn’t have anything else, it will be interesting to see if they sell. Perhaps I’m just a book snob:-))
There were very few buses about to bring me home late afternoon - I imagine a lot of drivers have school age kids and are on leave. So I got the bus that doesn’t quite bring me home. Then I have the choice of 158 steps up, or a bit further along, the gradual slop through the cemetery. Slower but much nicer. I liked this big patch of rose bay willowherb.
