Broken!
We got off pretty lightly in yesterday's storm. Amazingly the Heath Robinson cats cradle of string and peacanes survived and my beans live on to fruit again. My sweet peas, such as they are, are also intact.
What isn't intact is this, one of our lovely Ruby wedding roses has lost and enormous branch. Thankfully it is a branch and not the main stem. I'm hoping that if I paint some wound sealer on the place it came from and do a serious prune on the rest of it in the Autumn, it will survive.
Ali got home safely last night, they clearly had a train wind because they took off an hour and 5 minutes last and arrived only 35 minutes late. Ali said it was a bit of a rough landing, but they are back safe and sound.
I drive her to pick up the dog from the kennels, he was over Joe's to see her. The rest of the day was busy. A dental appointment and in true Sally style I broke a tooth on day one of the holiday which restricted my food choices somewhat. Fortunately I always carry an emergency dental repair kit when I travel so I just kept topping up the rough edge every couple of days with temporary filling material. Luckily there was no pain but I didn't want to lose any more tooth! I've an hours appointment in a couple of weeks to sort out a permanent repair but the dentist thinks things are ok. I'm so impressed with my practice. I phoned from Malta the day after it happened and they offered me an appointment for last Tuesday - I explained I was still away so they arranged today's for me. Thank you NHS.
Next it was of to the Charity shop for my shift there. Our manager is sick, so we had temporary cover, but all went well.
Colin and I enjoyed watching the first half of the first new Karen Pirie this evening. We're both tired so an hour was enough!
