Bergen!
Well, what a day that was! We were travelling again, so of course things did not go smoothly... but even by our standards, this was a corker!
It started at 4am, when JR woke me and said she'd just checked the baggage allowance, and we had TOO MUCH! Perhaps I'd been asked if I wanted ' Business Class' and I'd said no (it's only a short flight), so we had less than those who paid more. So, nothing for it, but to get up and re-arrange/get rid of STUFF. Archie came in to look... Maybe I took out too much - I now have 10.5kg, and I think the limit was 15kg. And actually, I think I needn't have taken anything out...
Then the 9.30 flight was delayed. By THREE HOURS!!!! Just as well we weren't joining the cruise today. But sitting in a Wetherspoons (they had the comfiest seats) for too long was not pleasant (and I'm a fan) - too many loud holidaymkers leering up large.
Eventually took off, no explanation and barely an apology. The people behind us were missing several onward connections. But hey - you can't fault the snacks!
The booked taxi was there to meet us, and we found each other no bother. And he had a Batmobile! One of those cars where the doors opened upwards! And it wasn't raining. We'd made it!
Our jolly mood gradually dwindled when the receptionist kept asking for my name and scanning his computer with a frown on his rather gorgeous young earnest face... Er, - NO such booking. I found the travel booking on my iPad, and IT WAS THE WRONG HOTEL!! Can you believe that! Eventually got hold of the taxi company who tried to contact the driver but couldn't, so we had to take a taxi and keep the receipt, it was really too far to walk, with luggage. And it was raining.
After checking in, we took a walk round the harbour as it wasn't raining. We had (expensive) fish and chips in one of the covered areas. NO beers - extortionate! Couldn't resist taking a photo of the ginormous crabs in the tanks. We're going to be going fishing for this one's cousin next week.
We gave up and came back to the hotel. Not hopeful of a dry day tomorrow. Or the day after that, as the storm hitting Scotland now, will move on to Norway. But at least we didn't miss the boat. AND we have our luggage.
