Music in the gardens
The Band of The Duke of Lancaster's Regiment playing in Queen Street gardens.
Spent parts of the day with my brother and his partner. They had tickets for the early session at the Tattoo; we went into the gardens instead to find the band, who were remarkably quiet, tucked into a tree muffled corner. They played the usual medley tunes, mostly; the piece in the picture was a lament for the fallen, with the piper playing the melody against the band accompaniment.
We watched the brief fireworks and then the lighted drone flying display above the Castle after the late Tattoo - that was excellently done, displaying symbols and rotating them in formation. There was a West wind, too. This is worth watching out for on the other Saturdays for the rest of the month; starts at about 23.00.
