Music at St Mary's

A lovely bright day with just enough wind to keep things pleasant.

We walked through the West end to St Mary's cathedral to listen to Gordon Ferries' guitar recital
Choix de mes fleurs chéries - Mauro Giuliani  1827
Selections from 'Giulanate'
Introduction and variations on 'Gentil Housard' - Fernando Sor 1830

Very skillfully amplified solo acoustic guitar. There were at least 100 people in the audience. Excellently played, with just enough explanation about the pieces. There's music every lunchtime and some coffee concerts all through the three weeks of the Festival.

The enormous banners (hanging them must have been an interesting job) depict bellringing changes. Artist Edward Bruce, architect Nick O'Neill

My brother went off mid afternoon and we did some clearing up. Walk after supper down Leith Walk and around by E Claremont Street.
