Life is a Challenge!

A VERY SUCCESSFUL DAY!

We - that is I - decided that a trip to Cirencester, which is about 15 miles from where we live, would be a good idea, especially as Mr. HCB had made the decision yesterday not to go to cricket today.

However, before we went, you won’t need three guesses as to where he was from about 7 o’clock onwards this morning!  My main shot for today is the harvest from our garden, with which I was delighted, especially the plums and the raspberries.  Most of this, except the fruit and the cucumber will be in a stirfry for our meal this evening.

As we wandered around Cirencester, I was hoping I might find a dress for the wedding we are attending in September, but sadly I couldn’t find anything I liked - and not even anything to be bothered to try on!

One of the extras shows a wonderful haul of Wentworth Jigsaw puzzles from a local charity shop - and which brought a BIG smile to Mr. HCB’s face - I’ve already told him they are an early Christmas present!  I was also happy to find some rings to cook fried eggs - and perhaps they will mean that I can cook them without them ending up a sticky mess - and a lovely salad bowl - on our way back to the car - so all in all a very successful day.  The background to that collage is the wonderful sky we saw on our way home.

The second extra collage shows a couple of street views in Cirencester, including The Fleece Inn, the Parish Church of St. John the Baptist,  a view down one of the alleyways and Mr. HCB enjoying his lunch of a toastie.  The fellow above Mr. HCB is in an exhibition in the new Brewery Arts Centre and some of you may recognise “Orpheus with his lute” - a handsome fella, which reminded me of the song we used to sing almost 70 years ago at school “Orpheus with his lute made trees, And the mountain tops that freeze, Bow themselves when he did sing....” I’m not sure that my singing would make anything bow, but Orpheus obviously had that ability!  You can read more about the exhibition here.

Whilst we were there, we had a message that there was a collection for us at Morrison’s for the Community Fridge, so we decided to pick that up soon after we got home and then we wouldn’t need to go out again.  Job done and Mr. HCB is now hurrying to finish another jigsaw puzzle, so that he can start one of his new Wentworths!

Hope you all have a great weekend.  M xx
