Collioure
A long drive today, down to the French Spanish border and the Mediterranean. Collioure is also overlooked by the Pyrenees, but the main aspect of this holiday seaside town is the colour (the name Collioure perhaps suggests it).
The view is from the Royal Chateau looking towards the Church of Notre Dame des Anges. I think the boats are historic and painted up for the tourists, but they made a nice foreground to the church bell tower, which was originally a lighthouse.
The day was not without incident. On the way down, driving at 130km/h I had a massive asthma attack when Janet started spraying sunblock everywhere. On the way back, she insisted I was taking the wrong turn (despite Sally SatNav's helpful maps) and I like a fool listened to the meat woman rather than the digital. That pushed us into Narbonne at going home time and half an hour of standing traffic before we could get back home.
In the middle, of course, it was delightful. We only walked about eight kilometres, but in the heat and the immensely steep hill back to the out of town car park it felt far more. Sadly we found another modern art museum that we had to visit, which was much as predicted. ;-)
